A distinctive vintage Swedish oil painting by Hans Henrik Ångsäter (b. 1935), a self-taught Swedish artist from Ljusdal, Hälsingland, known for his highly recognizable naïve figurative paintings and richly textured surfaces.

This charming composition depicts a lively gathering of stylized figures within a colorful rural setting. Ångsäter’s characteristic naïve approach is immediately visible in the deliberately simplified figures, expressive forms, playful perspective, and spontaneous use of color. Thickly applied paint and pronounced impasto give the scene an almost sculptural quality, while the unusual decorative floral border of small pink roses creates the impression of a painted frame within the artwork itself.

Ångsäter is represented in Swedish public and institutional collections, including Hälsinglands Museum in Hudiksvall, Gästrike-Hälsinge Nation in Uppsala, Folkets Hus in Gothenburg, and other Swedish collections.
