An exceptional, authentic 1956 original oil painting by the listed Swedish artist Holger Eklöf (b. 1926).

This beautifully textured mid-century masterpiece captures an atmospheric and nostalgic European village street scene, fully signed and dated by the artist,

and housed in a luxury layered wooden gallery frame.

Immerse your gallery or living space in the rich, artistic history of mid-century Scandinavian modernism. Painted in 1956 by the renowned Swedish artist Holger Eklöf,

this grand oil on canvas showcases masterfully applied thick impasto layers and bold expressionistic brushwork.

The composition depicts a charming, rustic view of a southern European village lane. Two majestic, intertwining mature trees with

detailed gnarled roots dominate the center, framing old stone cottages with weathered tiled roofs and colorful window shutters. Bringing a sense of historical

realism and human warmth, a local villager is seen leading a donkey packed with goods through the courtyard. The warm ochre, muted greens,

and soft terracotta tones evoke a timeless, sunny afternoon in a bygone era.
